New liquor license applications and renewals are brought before the local liquor licensing authority (Town of Lake City Board of Trustees) for approval.  They are then passed on to the State of Colorado for final approval.

Special events liquor license permits are approved only by the local liquor licensing authority (Town of Lake City Board of Trustees).

Businesses located within the Town of Lake City and Colorado must collect sales taxes on applicable sales and services.  Sales tax licenses are administered directly by the State of Colorado Department of Revenue. 

The current 2026 sales tax within the Town of Lake City is 9.15%.

Businesses providing services within the Town of Lake City, Colorado must apply for a business license.

Short-Term Rentals are regulated throughout the Town of Lake City.

Short-Term Rentals are required to have a Town of Lake City Business License and Short-Term Rental Permit. 

Permit availability and fees are determined both by the zone which the property is located, and based on the number of bedrooms.
